  1. In the business of building custom websites, you generally get what you pay for.

That is not to say that a student cannot turn out a decent brochure-type website - I've seen some very nice ones.

If you need a shopping cart, merchant account, gateway, etc., and you don't mind a cookie-cutter kind of website (that you may be able to create yourself, assuming reasonalbe computer skills), the Yahoo Store might be a good choice.

  2. I am a computer idiot.. and I have pulled of a couple of great websites.  I opened my own first website it looked so good that I then I had other people asking me to put together websites for them.

I would NOT pay anyone to do your website.  There are so many different types of "do it yourself" websites out there that literally walk you through it!

I have used sitebuilder.com   but here are some others:

    hyperstreet.com

    web.com

    citymax.com

    bulidyoursite.com

    google.com/sites

    webpiston.com

    shoptopics.com

    godaddy.com

They all offer about the same thing.. but they all vary a little in services.  Make sure you check the price because they seem to vary a LOT!

I hope you find what works best for you!  Good Luck!
