Is there someone that will come get a stray cat I found starving?

I just found a stray cat near my apt in Birmingham, AL and it looks pretty bad. ive never seen a kitten/cat so skinny before. Its following everyone and meowing alot. We tried to feed it but it needs alot of help or its gonna die soon. Is there someone I can call that will come get it? Do Humane Society's come pick up strays? What should I do? I cant and dont want a cat but I feel bad cause it looks really bad.

give it some water right now.  Its probably dehydrated badly.    Call the spca or humane society, or even the police.  The police can probably give you a number.  Its so horrible hearing these things it kills me.

I just recently found a stray myself and at first I thought she was pregnant, but now I am thinking there might be something wrong with her stomach as she hisses and growls at me whenever I touch her stomach to feel for her nipples.  But this cat has a collar on so someone obviously owns it, but it will not go away and has been here for two days just sitting on our porch and whenever I go to open the door she meows for me to let her in.  I let her stay in my room last night but when I went to let her out this morning my mother flipped out on me.  I still feed her because she has to eat, the same as the stray you found has to eat.  Even if you dont want a cat, take her in and give her something to eat and drink.  See if she gets any better and if she does you can find someone who will adopt her, like take her to an animal shelter, they dont require you to make a donation unless you want to and if you do it is for whatever money you want it to be for, but do NOT let the poor thing starve like someone obviously is already doing.  Do something for the cat, dont let it hang on your conscience that you didnt do anything for it.

Definitely give it water- as much as it wants.  You can give it a little bit of milk, not a lot because it is actually not good for them but it will help fill it's stomache.  As for food, if you have wet cat food (like in a can) give it small amounts at a time.  DO NOT let the cat binge eat- it's not good to eat a lot at once.  If you dont have wet food, or even dry, give it some chicken, fish, shrimp...stuff cats like.  If you want the cat take it to the vet ASAP, if not call the ASPCA and you can bring it to the pound or they will come get it.
