Is there something about the letter S that makes them special?

4 of the bigger names still unsigned all have a last name beginning with the letter S.

Shanahan, Selanne, Sakic, and Sundin.

Out of these 4 remaining players, who do you think has the most left in their tank and who do you think should call it quits?

  1. Having an S makes me special :P haha.

Shanahan - Of the four, he's the one who should most likely retire.  He's just not as good as the other three still are.  However if he sticks around, he would make a GREAT captain, because no doubt he's still a good player with tons of experience.  Plus he was practically the captain of the Rangers because Jagr wasn't.

Selanne - Last season he was about to retire, which shows he's been thinking about it.  He's already accomplished his goal of a Stanley Cup.  But I think he's got gas in the tank for one more season.  After that, he's done.

Sakic - He's still doing great, but I think it's time for him to step down and pass the torch to the younger players like Stastny.  He's getting old and you can tell.

Sundin - Out of all of them, he's the best player.  He had an awful team but still posted great numbers.  He's a great captain, and the face of the Maple Leafs.  He's just gotta make up his mind already!!

Sara - She surpasses the rest of the four players in their prime.  Often called the Female Wayne Gretzky, she will break into the NHL next year and crush Selanne's scoring record for a rookie.  So many teams are all fighting to be dead last this year with hopes of drafting this Female Phenom.  haha :P

  2. Hi

It really is going to depend on what you mean by most left in his tank. Shanahan I believe has the most hockey left but any of the other three would be a bigger splash for a team. Sakic is a quiet player, you really have to pay attention to notice how much of an impact he makes. I say that, but I do not feel he has more then a year or so left and unsure about him being able to turn it up a notch when need be. Sundin and Selanne are on the fence and may not see them till around trade deadline.

I am not a huge fan of players only having to play half seasons, but I guess it is smart business wise.

    Thank You

  3. I think Sakic and Sundin both still have great potential for next season...though I think it will only be Sundin returning

IMO Selanne is ready for retirment. I have a reliable source who knew Selanne very well while he was in San Jose...he always said Selanne really wants to win the Stanley Cup. That was his huge goal in his NHL career. Now that he's won it, I don't know if he will go all-out for another one...I think he can definitly work his tail off for another cup but not like the way he did in 06-07 when he won it with Anaheim.

I think Shanahan will return for another year or possibly two years. I see him being no better than what he is now. He would fit good in a team making a run at the playoffs.

So Sundin has the most left in him.

  4. Selanne is waiting for the DUCKS to move some salary... like Schneider.

    Sakic will come back.

Shanahan is a victim of waiting on MR  TAKE MY TIME, MEDIA HOG, Sundin.

Sundin- over-rated! When was the last time he scored a 100 points in a season? IN QUEBEC! ... the guy is obviously not a good leader, look at the LEAFS record! Its obvious the guy cant make a decision in life.. which leads me to believe AGAIN.. it affects his leadership! I could care less if the man ever played a game again. Down with SUNDIN.... go to the KHL and leave us NHL fans alone.

  5. Selanne has the most left in the tank.

Shanahan can still play when he needs to.

    Sakic is questionable.

    Sundin should go away.
