  1. There are vets specializing in rodents. except in the vet world, they are considered "exotics" so you would have to go to college, then vet school and major in what you want to be. the only thing is, you're not going to want to JUST do rodents, you should do small animals too(cats and dogs) because rodents vets don't make a lot of money, because most people with rodents see them as "pocket pets" or disposable pets and don't think they should bring them to a vet when they get sick. Sad, i know, but true :(

My mom first started doing rodents and small animals but in 2 years she never even saw one patient with a rodent, so now she just does dogs and cats.

  2. You can also go to vet school and do a focus on small mammals if you rather not go the more academic route.  I'd appreciate more vets focusing on small mammals!

    Hope that helps!

  3. Yes rodentology is the specialised study of rodents and comes as a branch of zoology. You can do a degree in zoology and then specialise in rodentology or you can study veterinary sciences and then become a rodentology specialist. The career field of rodentology mainly encompasses research and doctorate work, so if you want to study rodentology, you can look for a main stream career in rodents research.
