Question:

Is there something they can do to slow horses down?

In auto racing, specifically NASCAR, the intake systems are intentionally restricted to slow the cars down to a safer speed. This has cut down on the lethality of crashes.

Is there any way to slow race horses down to cut down on the number of broken down horses?

Maybe make them tow a little parachute, or carry some additional weight. How about making them wear a muzzle that restricts their breathing and forces them to run slower? Are these ideas any good or do we have to continue witnessing these senseless tragedies every May?

  1. yeah, just wait for the horse to reach full maturity before racing them.

  2. Horses are handicapped by putting lead weights in saddle, to make the race more equal already!

  3. the jockey can pull back on the reigns.  put a parachute and additional weight on yourself and try running it adds stress to the body's heart smart idea.  horses in and of themselves are

created for speed.  best idea is for you to wear a muzzle.
