Ive noticed today that my cat seems to be drinking alot more water than he usually does. Could something be wrong with him. Ive never owned a cat before so every little thing that seems off worries me a little bit.

  1. Is he losing weight also? First thing comes to mind is diabetes. (please read my profile)  You can go to the pharmacy and get some ketodiastic reagent strips to test the urine to see if sugar is spilling in.

realize that diabetes if this is the case is very treatable and no life span is lost and your cat can live a quality life. Contact me if you believe I am right and want some help. I will help you every step of the way

Please Please Please  stop feeding dry food!  canned foods no gravy are much healthier

  2. hey cut him off water its a problem with he you now cause is he urnateing alot more  if he is thats the problem give her some water tongith and tell me what happens

  3. could be kidney trouble, diabetes,or it could be warm where you are so the cat is hot and takin on water to quench his thirst..if you are still concerned  take him the vets.

  4. Cats tend to drink more in the summer.  Unless the kitty is not urinating, then there isn't a problem.

  5. If it is warm in the house, that would make any animal drink more.  Also if it is dry.  Cats can generally take care of themselves.  If you have a lot of questions, I would say set down with your vet and go over some general rules for cats.  I can tell you that they are fairly independent but just keep them on a regular schedule.

  6. my cats seem to go through stages of drinking loads of water then none at all, then loads of water etc etc. i know exactly how you feel, i got my first two kittens in January and was so edgy to begin with- i had them at the vets three times in the first four weeks!!! you gotta learn to trust ure instincts, you will know when something is wrong- you know your cat better than you think you do! :) just keep ure eyes on him if he shows any other symptoms e.g. being sick,  yelping etc- get him to the vet.

  7. Well, This is summertime.

And if its hottish where you live.

Then maybe the cat is just thirsty.

    If this happens again.

Maybe take the cat to the vet.

    I have cats.

    And I live in Arizona.

    And my cats constantly drink.
