Is there something wrong with my septic system or my main pipe lines?

I went to take a shower in one bathroom and then in the other bathroom there was water and brown stuff in the tub coming up the drain. There was also clear water on the floor around the toliet. What do you think the problem may be? Thanks so much for your help? What and who should I call about this?

Thanks

  1. It sounds like your sewage field is nearly blocked.

Look in the yellow pages fro a septic system service company. This is not a do it yourself project.

And, it is not a cheap fix.

  2. Your main line is probably clogged with something. You can rent a snake from Home Depot. If not you can call a plumber to do it for you.

  3. you would need at least a 25 foot snake to unclog the line, plus you would have to remove the toilet to do so, my recommendation is to call a plumber.

  4. If you have a septic system that is a sign that the underground system is overfull, you need to have it drained and then start using some of the stuff on the market to keep it from doing it again. You may also want to have your grease trap checked out too, since they are tied into your system.

You need to buy a good 15-20 foot snake to use at your clean out - usually located outside your house near where your bathroom is located, it's usually about 4" and has a cap that can be removed to do that.

Your getting 'backflow' from some kind of blockage in your lines from your septic system, you need to have it checked out, because if you wait much longer it will turn into a really stinky mess and all your drains will have that stuff coming up into your house. Never flush any women stuff down a septic system, it does the same thing to your system that it does for women - if you get my meaning?

  5. One way you can decide if it's the tank is to go out side and find your clean out plug if it flooding out it that plug then you can say that your tank is full and need's to be pumped out. You can also stand out by that clean out plug  then have someone to run some water for inside of the house to see if water is running threw the line's by watching to see if you have water running pass the plug hole. You will need a plummer if the line's are cloged up.

  6. Check the lines.......are ye plugged.........pump the tank.....and next but last.....new drain field.......when no one is looking....hope it's just a diaper in the line.........all the best!!!
