Ok, so there is this blackbird in my garden, it's been there for about an hour now. It's live and kickin', and it's kinda cold, but even if i go outside, it won't fly off, but just run away. Is there something wrong with it?

  1. is it hurt or something?  it could be if it's not flying away even when you are getting close.  try not to disturb it so it wont' waste energy "running" away...it's wildlife, i am sure they can take care of themselves somehow. good luck!

  2. A wood thrush flew into our window this morning, knocked itself cold. I grabbed him up, and rubbed him until he woke up, then put him on the deck rail, and with a straw, gave him small drinks of water until he was able to get his "wits" back.  He finally flew over into a shrub, and sat there, until he heard his mate calling. He finally flew down and started looking for bugs in the grass. Sometimes you have to help "Mother Nature", but don't do it unless you know the bird is in distress.  Had I not picked this bird up, it would have died.  This happens a lot, because of our picture window, so I have done it hundreds of times.

  3. the bird may have flown into a window on your home and is either stuned or it may have injured it's neck in the process.

I think that the best thing to do in this case is to let mother nature work it out.
