I was just wondering if there is anywhere to put all the extra water we are going to get as the sea level rises. I just haven't heard anyone mention it as an option. I'm sure its totally crazy but some facts would be great.

eg areas bellow sea level that are fairly unpopulated or other drying up lakes and seas, caspian , dead sea etc

How much could be displaced if its was really a last measure if most of the worlds low lying populated areas will be the first to go.

  1. mediteranean , nevada , mississippi valley , russian planes , california valley , in your whiskey

  2. maybe if the people who arent supposed to be here went home we wouldnt be sinking...poor britain ...well we'll just go to their countries when ours is no good

  3. Once sea levels begin to rise, then worry about it. It hasn't happened yet.

  4. no.....you couldn't move it quick enough. as soon as you fill up dry areas which is pretty much impossible it would evaporate, turn to clouds then get dumped back in the sea by rain

  5. Instead of dumping billions of plastic bottles in landfill which are supposed to take hundreds of years to biodegrade, we could fill 'em up with water & plonk 'em in the worlds deserts.

  6. Most of the water in the oceans have already been displaced, because of the ice that sits in the water has 70 % of its bulk under the water, and when water freezes-- into ice, it expands.  Any rise in sea level will be in inches, and any melting of ice will be replaced when it comes back.

  7. Well I don't really have an answer to your question but I was reading that in a couple years instead of oil people will be fighting over water...So hopefully they can put all the extra water to good use; although a number of desalinisation plants would be needed.

  8. Yes its called the ice caps. Has been a popular solution to this problem over the last 2 million years or so.

The thing is the ice caps get bigger (ice ages) and smaller (not ice ages.)

  9. According to Nigel Lawson, temperatures the last two years have been declining, on a worldwide basis, so tell Al Gore we are back to an ice age threat.  (He needs some sensationalism)

  10. just let it flood and destroy the cites of the countries that did not believe in global warming and did nothing to try and stop it

  11. everyone in the world has to have a pair of waterproof socks hanging down the insides of their trousers (just like in the Great Escape). They fill them with water and then wander aimlessly over to the nearest below sea-level area and let the water out while whistling and shuffling their feet.
