Is there somthing that lets you get free phone service for life?

I was reading a magizine and i saw somthing in it where you put it in a dsl or cablemodem or somthing and is prevents you from paying your phone bill or somthing...... do you kno the name of it so my momma dont have to pay for phone anymore?

VoIP is not really free, but I guess it is the closest you will ever get to free phone calling.

Once you have paid for your VoIP equipment and high-speed Internet service, VoIP is "free" in "some cases", but realistically, I would say if you are using it as phone replacement service, it won't be free, but will be lower cost that standard telephone service.

The service you speak of is called VoIP or Voice over Internet Protocol. The service allows you to use your broadband connection for a phone line. You get supplies a router that plugs into your modem and from there you just plug in your normal phone and make calls as usual.
