Is there such a thing as Basic Rain?

There is a wikipedia page on it but it only has limited information. Basic rain would be the opposite of acid rain.

  1. i suppose, for a substance to be basic it has to have the pH of 8 or higher, so if rain had a pH of say 9 it would be basic


  2. Perhaps the intent was to suggest that rain free of any acid would be basic rain but there are different kinds of rain.

    But rain falls out of a vareity of clouds.   You could have rain that falls as drizzle or a misting kind of rain.   You could have rain that falls as rainshowers.   These rains come out of more unstable air and are many times associated with thunderstorms.
