Question:

Is there such a thing as ONLY the axis as changing 90 degrees and not the sph or the cyl power on an rx?

I have been learning and using the lensometer more now at work and this is what I'm coming across when trying to check new jobs from the lab. Am I doing something incorrect?

  1. Depends if you are reading the Rx in - /- or in -/+

You are probably trying to read it in -/+ when it should be -/-

    - 2.00 - 2.00 X 90 will give you -4.00 + 2.00 X 180

Or you are maybe confusing the thin lines and the wider lines in the lensometer ?

Hard to say what you are doing wrong without seeing you do it....lol

Set your axis first before you put the glasses in the lensometer...then get your 3 thin lines clear at the Sph power the Rx says it should be...then go more minus for your cyl...if the Rx is written in -/- like most are.
