My brother is moving to Australia and until he is settled, would like my parents to live with me in Portugal. What is the best visa to apply for. They will not be returning to SA, would this pose a problem. If they had a ticket from SA to Portugal to Australia, would they be able to get a visa for Portugal for a few months, until my brother is settled. he has work in Australia and a contract for a few years

  1. dependent visa is not for parents but for children,

your parents will need to apply for a visa to Portugal from SA, the plane ticket cannot be purchased this way, until for sure that have received a visa from Australia...the agency that sells the ticket, will want to see the visa first,
