Is there such a thing as a european identity card?

if so what does it look like and

from the date of issue when does it expire?

no dont think so i know they have identity cards on American military bases

There isn´t a European Identity card. Every country has its own. In Spain, for exemple, it expires every 4 years and every 10 years when you are old but every country has its own regulation. UK doesn`t even have an ID.

In Spain and France it looks like a plastic card, in Italie, it´s like a cardboard.

There isn't a European Identity Card and if there is it certainly isn't mandatory to have one.
