Is there such a thing as a single chromatid?

A person argued that there is no such thing, that if there is only one, then it's called chromosome and if there is more than one then you can call it chromatid. What do you say?

In anaphase of mitosis when the two chromatids of each chromosome are separated individual chromatids are produced - these are often referred to as daughter chromosomes - in fact they unravel and become chromatin and will become chromosomes composed of 2 sister chromatids again after DNA has doubled in S- phase
