Is there such a thing as free scripts?

I'm building my own website, and it is going to be a forum for members to interact on, so I want the site to be as safe as possible. What I'm looking for is free registration scripts, and free login scripts. If they exist, where are they?

Also, please don't tell me about forum hosting sites, I already know about all of the best ones and decided I don't like any of them. Thanks.

You can get PHP, ASP, HTML, Perl, Java, etc. Pretty much any scripting language.

If you don't like any of the major sites, why use their scripts? You will simply be duplicating them. Write your own.
