Question:

Is there such a thing as numerical dyslexia?

I have quite allot of trouble with numbers, even very basic adding and subtracting. In other areas I'm quite bright and have never worried because I manage to get by. But it's starting to bug me, I even have trouble understanding what someone is saying to me if they are relaying a series of numbers, like a phone number. I just cannot seem to 'get it' in my head.

Numbers seem abstract to me, I cannot relate them to anything, I feel as though I cannot see them, thus they are not tangible. Is this a condition like dyslexia? Does anyone else suffer with anything similar?

  1. sound like you  could have dyscalculia. I have the same problems you have I can't do basic math and also have trouble with phone numbers. Numbers or formulas just don't click for me. When I write or read numbers I'll add, subtract, pass over (leave out) or make a reversals (I'll write/read 91 as 19) I could never learn my multiplication tables because I was only taught to memorize them, and I simply can't do that.

Do some research, look up the symptoms, look into haveing a psychologists test you for it.
