  1. There are several ways to play a timed game of chess...

The first and most standard is having x amount of minutes to play 40 moves and then a set amount of time to play the rest (if needed)

The second is a straight time game, with each side having x amount of minutes that are counted down when it is your turn to move.  A variation of this is called "Fischer time" named after the late grandmaster who invented it, which adds a set amount of time to your clock after you make your move.

A third, but uncommon way is to have a set amount of time, and when it is your turn to move, time is taken off of your clock and added to your opponent's clock and when it's your opponent's move, his time is taken away and added to yours.

There is blitz chess or bullet chess, where the time is set extremely low (5 minutes, or even less) to play your entire game.  This gives the appearance that moves are made every few seconds.  The rules are the same as any other game of chess.  What your describing, having only three seconds to make a move, I've never heard of, but I'm sure it has been done.

  2. It's called speed chess. Watch "Searching for Bobby Fischer" sometime...

  3. well you can just make up your own rule like you got 3 sec to make you moved or it is skiped

  4. to be honest, i have no idea.......
