  1. the talking you adapt to it just takes a couple weeks after the swelling goes down. my eating never got normal but it does get easier and you learn what is easy to eat and what you have to be careful with.

  2. From what I have observed, people with tongue piercings may talk normal after some time, but many tend to habitually play with and bite on their jewelry, which looks strange. Not to mention the amount of damage they cause over time, like gum recession and chipped teeth. Here's just an excerpt from one site on the subject:

"In addition to periodontal diseases (serious bacterial infections that destroy the attachment fibers and supporting bone that hold your teeth in your mouth) tongue piercing may cause other complications such as tongue swelling, difficulties with chewing, swallowing and speech, increase of saliva flow, localized tissue overgrowth and metal hypersensitivity."  Yuck.

See more info on this site before decide:

I say find a more original way to express your individuality without sacrificing your teeth.

  3. I have had mine since November of 2006.

When I first got it done it was swollen for about 2 weeks and had a  lisp for about 1 BUT gargling with salt water, using alcohol free mouth wash and taking the precautions/cares that the piercer gave me helped immensly. I only ate soft foods the first 2 days after that I resumed somewhat normal eating habits. All in all, everything was worth it and I have never had a problem with mine.If it still hurts quite a bit and is inflamed and swolen after a month I would look into using a different mouthwash and brushing your teeth after any food intake and if it doesnt go down go to the original piercer sometimes people are allergic to the surgical steel or silver.

    Good luck =)

  4. just don't try to eat mashed potatoes!! lol.

I thought it would be a good food to eat while my tongue was still sore... boy was I wrong! It gets stuck everywhere in your mouth and also in the piercing.

and as for your question, yes. there is such a time. :)
