    An 801K plan is the generic term that refers to the purchase of equity shares (stock)directly from a company rather than through traditional financial markets eliminating the need for a broker. Some of the biggest and largest corporations offer 801plans but the government for various reasons does not allow companies to advertise these offerings. They are not generally referred to an "801K" plan. Look for "dividend reinvestment plans" or "direct purchase and sale plans" The Bank of New York is one of the biggest plan adminstrators. You can check them out at www.stockbny.com I suggest you read the FAQ which has a lot of information. You can also buy direct from companies like Lowes and I believe Walmart also offers direct stock purchases.

    There are also generally very few restrictions as far as penalties, fees and limitations on withdrawals but always check with a financial or tax advisor for advice.
