  1. the digital frame / sensor is longer narrower than 35mm film frame (1.6x cropping) ; but some professional camera try make digital frame sensor same as 35mm film and call it full frame.

the canon started 35mm digital pro camera and call it full frame - it's more expensive as it has more pixels and it need more expensive lens and flash to get the right picture.

the normal digital sensor is good for size 4R prints and 35mm sensor is for larger 8R prints.

  2. yes, lot of cameras it depend how much price you want to pay, nikon d80, is suitable for you. it is  not high price but result is excelant.

  3. For a time, there were digital backs for 35mm cameras.  But that's a different discussion, since those are no longer made and were made obsolete by current technology.

The photo you've shown was taken with a 35mm film camera.  You can take your film in to most photo counters and have them develop the negative and give you the images digitally scanned onto a cd.  Before I bought my digital slr, that's what I was doing to produce digital images for a website.

If you want a digital camera that can produce the same results as a 35mm camera, a Nikon D3 or the top Canons may be your answer.

Here's an example of digital scanning of 35mm film.

  4. No there is no such thing as a 35mm digital camera but there are full frame sensor Digital SLR's. The sensor is the same size as 35mm film. The following models have full frame sensors.

Canon 1DSs MKIII $8,000 body only

    Canon 5D $3,000 body only

    Nikon D3 $5,000 body only

There are a few other and will all be in the same price range. While a full frame DSLR is great you can get very good photographs from the cropped sensor DSLR's as well. I know many wedding and event photographers that use Canon 20D's and 30D's and Nikon D200's and D300's. These cameras cost less than half as much as the full frame cameras. The entry level DSLR's will also produce great photographs. They typically use the same image sensors as the prosumer models like the 30D.

The picture in the link you provided could be taken with any digital camera.

  5. Yes, try and look for Canon EOS 5D, Canon EOS 1Ds and other Canon Mark Series cameras. These DSLR's have full frame sensors which could match the resolution of a 35mm film. They cost a ton of money though. Good luck!

  6. 35mm refers to the film size... any digital camera is capable of taking that same picture, as long as the photographer knows what he/she is doing.
