Is there such thing as a home theater projector that has good quality as a hdtv?

Sure ... better because it's a bigger picture. You won't get one that looks as good in a bright room ... like a plasma, but in a dim/dark room projectors are as good as all but the absolute best plasma ... and a fraction of the price.

1080p projectors with 20:000:1 contrast ratio can be had for $2500 and some are as low as $1800. A 720p projector is even less ... $1000.

Yes, there are. Be prepared to pay for it though.

Just google "hd projector". be warned, in most cases, you get what you pay for. Also, you will want a projector rated for about 2000lumens or more, don't go less unless you want to turn out the lights and close the blinds every time you want to watch TV.
