  1. YES!

  2. Matt emulsion paint smells the least.

Paint is made of a pigment suspended in a thinner.  You brush it on and the thinner evaporates leaving the pigment behind.  It smells, even if the thinner is water.

  3. a lot of the water clean up paints do not have an odour ......ask at the paint store when you are buying it. Also a thicker paint is better as not drippy and does not run when applied. The water based paints will also dry in a few hours so its a good idea to apply lightly and then give another light coat. Good luck and don't forget to ask for odourless when buying.

  4. No, but water-based paints will smell less than oil/solvent based.  I'd still use oil/solvent based paints on exterior work as outdoors you shouldn't be affected by smell.

I have heard of people putting perfume in paint and claiming it works.

  5. no there isn all chemicals have a smelling function. Is a good thing to invent go for it:)

  6. NO! no matter what people say all paint smells. all i can suggest is use low odour paint, available in any good paint shop. remember to leave the windows open.

p.s. in paint trade for 24 years.

  7. Yes, it's a bit dearer than normal paint but you can get it in any good DIY shop.
