  1. Who knows if you're going by some breed standard. All I know is if you told me you had a brown tabby and I then I saw a reddish color I would wonder if you were color blind! So call Kitty whatever color describes them the best!

  2. Your vet is a cat??? wow, that's awesome!!! (check your spelling)

And yes, there are such things as red tabby

  3. Post a pic and we will be better able to help you.

Tabby refers to a pattern of stripes or even dots (mackerel)

  4. well yea search red tabby? on google and it will bring up pics ang there u go!

  5. YEP WE HAVE ONE! his fur is the same color as my husbands hair, red! whether the vet agrees or not, there is such thing! seeing is believing!

  6. yes

  7. Yes.  What many call "orange" or "ginger" in a cat's colour is actually called "red".  This is my Red Classic Tabby and White Exotic Shorthair:

If your cat looks similar to that one but have some patches of reddish in his coat he may actually be "Torbie" which is the combo of Tabby and Tortoiseshell/Calico:

Contrary to what someone said "Mackerel" tabby is not spots - it's vertical stripes.  "Spotted" tabby is when the pattern is spotted, "Classic" tabby is when the pattern is a series of whorls (like Penny above) and "Ticked" tabby is when each hair is banded with color.

  8. Red tabbies are call Mackerels

  9. Of course there are "red" tabbies! You can find all kinds of colors of tabbies in a wide variety of breeds as well.

For lots of information on tabbies, visit:

At the top of the page there is  a photo of a "red" tabby. You can compare your cat with that photo.

Peanut butter could be a cream tabby as well.

A brown tabby is brown with black stripes or circles on the side of the body, depending upon whether it is mackerel or classic tabby. But it is distinctly brown.

    Hope this helps!
