  1. i suppose....if somebody was clever, but chose to ignore the facts...that would count...i think? lol yeah, there could be.

  2. I know not whether I am wise, but I am certain of my ignorance. It's one of the few things I know without doubt. Perhaps, this awareness makes me wise, pff...It still leaves me ignorant.

  3. yes. I'm totally smart in my academics and things like that, but i'm totally clueless and dense in all the gossip...

  4. Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance.

    Confucius

The difference between a wise person and an ignorant person is that a wise person know that he does not know everything. But an ignorant person think that he know everything.

  5. Socrates accepted the title of wisest man, but only because he came to the realization that he knew nothing. There is a difference between not having knowledge wanting to acquire it, and not having the knowledge while being apathetic about it.

  6. Yes. You can have a lot of wisdom and insight on certain things, and be totally clueless about others. For instance, a person who reads and thinks a lot, but keeps to himself, would probably be scholarly-wise but ignorant of human interactions and do badly in the real world.

  7. yes wisdom is the domain of a person who has first been a fool.

  8. there are wise people some anyway but everyone is ignorant .

  9. Yes because there are those who are only book smart and ignorant in other areas. That's not to imply that all who are educated are ignorant - that's not the case. Case in point was serial killer Ted Bundy.

  10. knowing oneself to be ignorant, is the very definition of wisdom.  See Socrates.

  11. There is also such a thing as a well educated ignorant person.  Most people are not aware of the level of deception that exists in this society.

  12. Wisdom is an innate understanding of all things and their inter relativity and correlation.

Ignorance is a complete lack of the aforementioned.

Wisdom may be made to appear foolish, and many ignoramuses speak voluminously as sophisticates on matters they actually have no understanding at all. The nouveau educated I think they're called.

A genuine need and desire to enlighten and free man from the shackles of spiritual ignorance and blindness is accorded its due. Angry mankind spread toxicity and ire as a plague upon the hearts of the already slighted wounded in spirit.

  13. Ignorant people fail to see the wrold through others eyes and do not care. Very wise people have been through lots, whether through an open mind or by acceptance, they are always open minded and are not easily angered/sadened by petty matters - in other words they see the big picture. ignorant people do not

  14. Sure, like depending on what subject wise in,and then another subject not familiar. the good thing about being wise is that the subject ignorant about can be learned then easily,fast,...

  15. Wisdom is different than knowledge and ignorance is subjective, so yes.

If you took, say, the wisest, most respected African Bushman of his tribe into our culture, people would think he was ignorant: He doesn't know Math, or who the president of the United States is, or how to read, BUT he knows what plants are good to eat, how to build shelter and survive on his own in a desert starting with nothing.  If you were having problems with your relationship or stressed about work, I'm sure he could say something that would make you feel better about the situation.

  16. yes, they call him best of the worst

  17. no, becuase part of being wise, is knowing your faults, and therefore knowing that you don't know everthing, so you would keep an open mind, unlike someone who is ignorant.

or let me definine a "wise" person:

someone who disciplines themselve to have morality and compassion ie. empathy, understanding of others etc

therefore wisdom develops from ones effort to purify their mind.

naturally, doing that requires you to have an open mind and to be honest to yourself, about your flaws, your thoughts (badr thoughts -) all the vices of human nature. that only you may know about, and disguise. ............and if your are IGNORANT about the nature of your mind...;you're not going to get very far in your attempt to become wiser.

thats why most people's body's grow bigger, and decay more over time, but their wisom never grows.

Some contemporary buddhist quotes from the Dhammapada clarifying above (wisdom vs ignorance):

                                    87

" Leaving the way of darkness,

the wise walk the way of light.

    Leaving the security of ignorance,

the wise seek a higher way,

though knowing the path is difficult to tread."

                                       88

" The wise are free from attatchment,

                     free from possessions,

free from the dark places of the heart."

  18. well supposidly the president is suppose to be wise, i mean hes running our country. && hes deff ignorant.
