A car that has all the components of a normal car, and is proportional, just a lot smaller? I think I was reading something about one, but I can't find it.

I could really use the help.

  1. A petrol remote control car is a scaled down version of a real car.

They are a scale model, and are in proportion to a real car, and run on fuel, however, they run with a 1 cylinder motor, 2 stroke motor, not a multi cylinder, valved, 4 stroke motor.

I think that is the closest to what you are looking for that you will find.

There are a lot of static models made that are to scale, but they arent a functional, running, operating car. They are just for display.

  2. Many years ago in Hot Rod Magazine, they had an article about a guy who built miniature Chevy V8s. They were 2-strokes instead of 4-strokes like the real thing, but he built a whole car for at least one of them. It was complete except it didn't use a transmission. A miniature tranny would be too hard to build, I guess. I'm sorry I don't remember the year/issue of the mag, but maybe you could write in and ask about it. If I ever come across the article in my collection, I'll send you an e-mail.

There were also companies that made little go-kart type cars with a Briggs & Stratton engine and a body like a Ford Model T and a few other styles. Once I even saw a tiny AMC Gremlin coming at me. Freaked me out! www.aeroglass.com might still have something like that.
