Just wanted to know is there such thing as luck?

Luckily, no.  Not as a force, at least.

The term could be accurately used as a description of uncontrolled factors aligning either in your favour or against it.  As such, it is referring to a collection of outcomes and your valuation of those outcomes and not the cause of those things.  People do tend to mean SOMETHING when they use the word, after all.

Luck happens.  But it doesn't make things happen.

Well, if on the one hand you believe in an all-powerful God who constantly tends his creation, then you presumably believe that he is the agent of everything that happens and that there can be no luck.

Then, on the other hand, if you believe that the world is solely governed by Newtonian cause and effect then you may also adopt a deterministic attitude where everything that happens is mere the causal consequence of some prior event. Such events are theoretically measurable and predictable therefore luck seems to have little room for the manouever.

The only way luck could perhaps be said to exist is a faith in a force in the universe which is completely random that belongs neither to God or Newtonian physics...scientists are at the moment studying the baffling cases of, what they think is, seemingly random reactions in sub-atomic particles (e.g. Quantum Mechanics). It will be interesting to see what these studies show us about Luck.

I don't think so. Luck is the absence of knowing how an event took place.

If you ever notice someone saying that someone else is lucky, they are likely experiencing some envy at another person which can be explained.
