  1. Steam is water vapour that can normally be seen.

Superheated steam is also water in gaseous form and is invisible due to the fact that there are no misty droplets of water to be seen until it cools down to normal steam temperature..

(It's very much hotter than 'normal' steam at 100°C and can be very dangerous if escaping to the atmosphere).

Also, watch the spout of a hard boiling kettle. The steam, as it's leaving the spout, for the first inch or two after the spout the steam is invisible.

This is because, at that point, the steam hasn't started to cool and condense into a visible mist.

  2. you see things because some wavelengths of light are absorbed onto the surface of an object and others are reflected.  For something to be invisible, it would have to absorb all light hitting it while reflecting none.  Unfortunately, water absorbs at a certain spectrum and emits at another, depending on the frequency of the light illuminating it, so all water is visible when illuminated.

  3. Water Vapor?

  4. you know this is funny.

I was just telling my mother how weird water is because its see threw but at the same time you can see it.

    I find it mind boggling.

Why do you want to know this?
