Violence against media is not acceptable and certain countries do try and protect the press but what happens if the press doesn't listen and the tail tries to wag the dog?

Media is owned by few corporations which push through their own agenda's. Other factors push through & use media for their own advantages. A good example is 'Iraq War', Bush & Co manipulated the media, pressured/threatened journalists etc. Fox is the best example!

There is complete manipulation in US news.  They are the National Enquirer of world media.  Everything they say is suspect.  If they are reporting about a disaster or something factual, it is probably correct, but if it evokes the emotions or resentment, hate, patriotism or fear it is probably not true, and another source should be looked at.  This sensationalism is largely due to their celebrity-obsessed society.  Their news has become entertainment.

Now, it is just as bad with all the hype the news has, as ratings are the name of the game with the bottom line being more important that unbiased coverage.
