If so, what do they put in the fast healing formula to make it work?

  1. Compare the active ingredients listed on the tube.  If the amount of active ingredients are the same (they usually are), there will be no measurable difference.  It's just an advertising slogan used by the manufacturer so they can charge more.

I have participated in lab experiments run with various antibacterial ointments on many different bacteria cultures, and the generic ointments produced at least equal and sometimes better results than the high-priced brand name antibacterial ointments.

  2. No difference. Topical antibiotics such as polysporin all "speed up healing." By mentioning this on the package, the manufacturer has simply emphasized a feature of the product in their marketing efforts. It is like dish detergent that says "gets your dishes their cleanest." Like, duh.
