Is there viable technology to counter Oil crisis?

With rising oil-prices, and the end of reserves near, a lot of substitutes have been developed? But which one of these are actually guaranteed to be economically viable? What will run our cars and jets 50 years from now? How much would it affect the global economy? Is there a possible problem in the future? Is there a possibility of a global energy crisis where people will have to conserve like crazy, or is there enough respite in sight that we shall be able to live like we're living? What technological breakthroughs have been achieved and what is the likelihood of them being adopted?

The tech is out there already but it is expensive.  We must act as individuals locally and think globally.

I predict electric cars will revolutionize the auto industry in at least 10 years. Even if oil prices stabilize, consumers are going to want protection if the oil companies decide to undergo another period of back-handed price-gouging. So, the moment these things hit the market, they're going to sell like hotcakes. ...I really don't know what's taking them so long.

Is there a viable technology to counter oil?  From an economic stand point at this time, the answer is NO.  Hopefully, there will be some technical breakthroughs that will find a cheaper alternatives to oil in the near future now that people are really starting to feel then pinch of high energy costs.

if its running engines that exists behind all these automobiles, how bout making an engine that runs on itself? im not so sure anymore :(

Check out this website. If this type of solar project or others were recogonized by foundations  and the government in the form of rebates or incintives and made a priority- all things are possible.
