  1. Yes. hold a piece of metal like the car key tightly in your hand and use it to touch the car,   It will still spark, but it won't hurt.

  2. Yes, there is.  Rub some hand cream into your hands first.  It works a treat.  And for the ladies out there, if you find your skirt clings to your legs with static, rub body lotion onto your legs.

  3. Yes, pinch your car key tightly in you finger tips and touch the car with the key, the static electricity will drain from your body without the annoying shock.

  4. it usually helps me to touch it fast and hard with my whole hand not slowly with my finger tip

  5. No .. No .. No ..

  6. Get someone else to touch it first : P

  7. While entering the car try hitting the car with your palm. The static will dissipate over a larger area and will cause no pain.

Before you exit the car open the door and touch an outside metal part. Now exit while at all times in contact with the metal. Again the static will have a larger area over which to dissipate.

  8. The static is on you, the car is grounded. The biggest cause is the seats and carpets as they are often made from man made fibers. The clothes you wear can also be a factor.

The best fix is buy a car with leather seats. You can otherwise spray static guard on the seats and carpets which helps a lot.

A way to discharge without it hurting is to use the key or something else metal. You hold it, then touch the car with it. This way the spark doesn't touch you.

Another way is to touch the metal of the door catch before you get out (with the Key helps) and hold it while you get out.

  9. It's easy! Waiting for half a minute will likely do the trick but that's not to practical. I always just used my car key to touch the car first. I felt nothing. If you are not the driver you could use a nail file  or any other metal object including a coin, that you have on your person as you approach the car.
