Question:

Is thin blood, heavy bleeding unhealthy?

I work in a shop where I get cut sometimes. That's not the problem.

When I do get cut, I bleed constantly, and it's hard to stop the flow. My friend says that I have thin blood.

Is this good or bad or does it not matter much?

I don't drink or take any medications. So, if this is something bad, I want to know what I can do to change it. Do I need to add something to my diet? Do I need to exercise more?

I just hate bleeding so much when I get hurt.

  1. You should probably get a blood test called an "INR"

this shows how thin your blood is.

The reason to check it, is if you do have thin blood, or blood that does not clot, a car accident, where you are unconscious, could involve deadly bleeding, if you can't stem the bleeding.

Help might be too late in that Case.

  2. It can be unhealthy in certain circumstances where very heavy bleeding can cause hypovolemic shock.  It is possible you are missing some clotting factors.  See a physician and have blood work done.
