I found this car 2002 Mazda 626 with 93,000k miles for $4000( however its negotiable) from a guy who owns a import junk yard and has his own shop so mechanically it works just fine and said if i ever needed anything in the future replaced or parts etc hed give them to me for free and jus charge for labor. The car looked great and ran smooth however the only thing wrong was that it has a rebuilt title because his wife got into some accident ( did not damage frame at all) but they went ahead and replaced one of the headlights and hood and the paint looked as exact match as you could get. If they wouldnt have toold us i would have never known... IS THIS SOMETHING I SHOULD BUY?? Are they good cars and does this seem like a good deal.. Please suggestions i dont know what to do. Im a college girl who will need to drive this car for only summer and breaks for the next 2 yrs till i grad..

Opinions??

  1. I'd be very wary and definately get a written contract about him giving you the parts for free and only charging you labor (even if it's someone you know just to be safe).  And with the rebuilt title, see how low he's willing to go.  I'd also look around a little more.  626s are great cars from what I've heard (a friend has one and has never had any problems also gets great gas mileage), but that's just one person.  Check the research section of cars.com and read the owner reviews for more opinions.  I'd ask him if I could take the car to a different mechanic and have it looked over before you buy it.  If he tells you no that should be a mega red flag.  I know a couple of car dealers and they admittedly try to take younger girls' money because they tend to not know as much (according to them) so I'd have your boyfriend or father or someone go back with you.  Just a suggestion.  I've included the cars.com link for you.  Good Luck!
