  1. It is proving what we all said. That soon Indian batsmen will read him well. The polish wears off as things become old.

  2. i agree with the above answerer absolutely, he is not unplayable !

  3. He is out of range now.

  4. Do you remember Virendar Sehwaag scoring a double hundred in the second test match at Galle against Mendis and Murli? He played him late when needed and relied on attacking him when he understood his spin and bounce.

Yes I agree that he is no doubt a very good bowler with the kind of variety he possesses but he is not unplayable. There have been such instances in the past too when stalwards like Shane Warne,Derek Underwood were at their peaks that they were assumed to be unplayable but then all know what Sachin did to Shane Warne at Sharjah and the Australians did to Derek Underwood at Melbourne. So as Mendis spends more days in International cricket, smart batsmen will definitely read him better and understand the variety in his bowling- specially the Carrom ball and the flipper that comes fast.

No doubt he is a playable bowler and if a batsman is careful,he can easily score piles of runs against Mendis.

  5. No bowler is unplayable indefinitely.

But how many bowlers on debut have performed as well as Mendis. He still has something up his sleeves.Give credit where it is due.

  6. i think the Australians and south Africans will just knock him out of the park

the Indians are to frightened of him cos what he did to them in the Asia cup and this last test

hes yet to be tested by some one having ago at him  and see if his head goes down when his knocked by consecutive sixes

i dont even think you need to read him i think you just play him as late as possibly on every delivery he bowls so you don't get caught out by his faster ball  which he flicks with his finger

OZ knows what im talking about lol

    .

    still hes a good bowler

  7. Nobody is unplayable for a very long time, but as of now Indian players are certainly frightened. In ODI you can be hit the odd day. Also please note he has given 56 runs which is normal these days. However by Mendis standard it was high.

  8. Yes, Mendis is certainly payable....And Sehwag had proved that in the 2nd test at Galle of the Idea Test series. In today's match, Mendis was expensive, he gave away many runs! The Indian batsman are slowly getting used to his style and he is no more a mystery bowler! I don't know why the Indian seniors (in the Idea test series) weren't able to tackle him?? The youngsters played really well against him today and i hope that soon the Indian seniors will also play well against him!

  9. Mendis with 3 years time prove  those anti -mendis guys that he is the greatest bowler of all time and ,  then Lankans will have the last laugh,. with lifting 2001 world cup~

  10. so what if his economy is high in this match. do you expect a bowler to continue bowling under 3rpo in all the matches. thats a silly observation..... only the young indian team tried to attack him more and they got away with it.... in the end no harm done he has 3 in the bag and now 28 wickets in 11 matches at just about 10 per wicket.

we could have seen how he plays against the tough team had the champions trophy not been postphoned.... :(

  11. See the result. Though he took 3 wickets , it costed him 56 runs.

It clearly shows that he can be playable.

  12. no bowler is unplayable.

And there aren't many bowlers who has a average under 10

  13. Absolutely Yes.....

    He too an Ordinary bowler....

It is the begging of getting bangs......

But he is not a bowler wh come and go but he will surely turn into a good bowler...

  14. ya.

  15. this pitch was a pretty flat pitch, with only the faster bowlers and new ball doing any thing.
