Is this Camcorder good enough?

Question

Ok. I'm not a video enthusiast. I want to take some stills (which this camera can do) and record some videos for fun or special events. I'm not looking for television-quality necessarily, but just something that's clear and can record my memories.

I would like the still quality to be pretty good, since I like taking pictures (But I'm not that tech-savy, and I'm not a photagraphy major or anything). Here's a camera I found on walmart.com, and I think it's pretty reasonable (though again, I'm not tech-savy...)

What's your opinion on this? does it suit my needs?

Video quality on this cam is excellent. it has lots of features too. Still pictures though are so so. You can also use it as webcam if you have firewire port on your computer.

It's a good cam, really. But If I was you, I would find myself a Sony camcorder instead. Good thing though that you chose miniDV;) That's actually the cheapest and best quality camcorder you'll get, because the miniDV disks are saved uncompressed to give you maximum quality!

Myself, I've got a Sony DCR-HC48E and I absolutely LOVE IT!

almost 3x more expensive than the cam you linked, but..
