It's an outgrowth of nineteenth century European capitalism, partially tempered by the social reforms of the 1930s-1960s and now gradually becoming less regulated again.

America/Britain/Japan/Germany are the main players in this model. China and India's role is putting a new slant on things, although China is just America's model, with an overtly oppressive social system. It also mirrors capitalism as it developed in Britain (with the necassary technological differences).

  1. You wrote: Capitalism is "an outgrowth of nineteenth century European capitalism." Do you always state the obvious? However, it is 18th century influences.

That "partial tempering" is called government interference in the market, is a form of socialism, and goes by the name of "mixed economy."

There should be a "wall of separation" between the market and the state, for precisely the reasons there is a separation between church and state: what a person does with his money is up to him. He is not free to use force or coercion to gain a monopolistic market. But that has nothing to do with money--it has to do with force and coercion.

As for your descriptions of China and India, I know little except that China subsidized much of their industry to keep prices and wages so low that foreigners cannot help but be attracted.

That is the reverse of "partial tempering," but is just as unjust on true capitalistic market forces, which should not have to compete with subsidization.

  2. The US  has been deregulating since the late 1970's. Regulations were  removed for  airlines, trucking first  and agency oversights  of the FDA and  OSHA has been cut back. One of the most important changes  is the regulation of the financial markets and Banks that were put in place after the depression of the 1930's  have been dismantled. However  because of the sub prime crisis it is expected that  regulation will increase in the area.

  3. Yes, its true!
