I had bio for only 4 months at school in 9th grade. It was from Late january to early June. I then took a prep course for the test from late june up to Mid august 4 hours a week. I then resumed the course for 2 hours a week from september till dec and i took the test and got a 540. considering that most schools teach bio for a year and i only had 4 months + a prep course, is this ok for my situation

  1. yes thats good considering your situation. later in maybe 10th or 11th grade, you may want to take the test again by taking another bio class or prep course.

  2. It's probably alright for your situation...however, colleges don't get the 'situation explanation' (not to be really harsh or anything, but they don't care either) when they get sent your SAT II results. They just see the number, and then number itself, a 540, isn't good for for a subject test in which you should know everything on it (nothing is unexpected). I didn't do well on it either, don't feel bad.

I suggest getting a review book for the SAT II Bio and studying it (The Princeton Review has a really good one) or taking a full year Biology class, and then retaking the test.

  3. No college will look at this is s good score under any circumstances. Don't takle a test unless you know you've mastered the subject.

  4. no offense thats really bad

why would you want to take the SAT 2 with only 4 months of the class. Was this even AP Bio? I don't mean to brag but I was in a prep class (not  a school class) and took SAT 2 USH and got a 670 after 4 months of studying (Mar '07-Jun'07) a 540 is well not that good for  any competitive colleges. sorry but i would suggest that u take the test again cuz if coleges see a 540 thats already a red mark and u want to avoid red marks.

  5. if you have block schedule, you only take a course for half a year (like a lot of people in the country)

so you are in 11th grade now? that means you still have time. what colleges do you want to apply to? i would suggest to get a review book, study, and retake the test.

  6. Honestly it isn't a great course and I know many people who only took a prep course. A prep course for a specific subject is rare and it should prepare you well enough by itself.

I would try to retake it (maybe after you take AP Bio?) and try to aim around 650.

It's not a horrible score, but it definitely could be better.
