Question:

Is this Sony home theatre in a box good (It's an HTIB but with lots of inputs)?

I am thinking of buying the "Sony Home Theatre System (HTSF2000)"

It is the full type system with speakers, sub and receiver.

It's a really slim looking system with slim tall speakers and a slim tiny receiver BUT unlike most slim home theatre in a box (HTIB) sets, this actually has several audio/video and HDMI slots!

I plan to use it with a 42 inch LCD TV and will plug in a DVD player, Cable Box and PS3.

It is available at Future Shop in Canada (Future Shop is like Best Buy in Canada) for $699.

Here is the future shop link: http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10096061&catid=

Here is the Amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000WVEMJM?smid=A228GNTXW0TH0L&tag=cnet-ce-20&linkCode=asn#productDetails

Thanks for any advice.

  1. That unit has 0 component inputs, 0 Svideo inputs, etc. I cannot even see how many HDMI inputs it has, but I suspect it has 1.

It looks only designed to take a feed from a single blue ray player. Why do you say it has "several audio/video and HDMI slots?"

For this price you can get a Dennon, Onkyo HTIB with a big receiver and lots of spare connections.

Skip this sony system.  It's over-priced and is obviously a class-D amplifier which let it fit in a skinny box, but these are usually not very good/respected.

  2. **** no... if you want good sound dont get an HTIB... that simple
