Rite.. i smashed my long mirror last nite because my brother really pissed me off!.. It was either knockin the **** out of him or kickin the closest thing 2 me which was my mirror!! :O

And my boyfriend said its 7 years bad luck.................................

IS IT?? Hope not :( Lmao!!

No. It's a very old superstition. I don't think you have anything to worry about. Take your anger out on something softer next time!

The source of this gibberish?

One explanation is that a few ancient cultures believed

that mirrors had the power to confiscate your soul.  That's

what the image in them was--your soul.  So, if you broke a

mirror, your soul was essentially trapped inside it.  The

broken mirror meant a broken soul and broken health.  Now,

the Romans also believed that the body renewed itself every

seven years, so if your mirror was broken, it would take 7

years to renew your soul and your health.

In the meantime?

7 years of unfortunate events, or... bad luck.

And whenever anything bad happened to a mirror-breaker,

it was 'because of the mirror.'

This false belief destroyed confidence.  It took people's

personal power away completely.

And then as now, word of things like that spread quickly,

and before long, it became folklore and hundreds of years

later, this drivel is still accepted as truth."

Smashing a mirror is NOT bad luck.

But it DOES mean you need a new mirror and you have glass to clean up :)

Breaking a mirror means 7 years of bad luck, unless you take the pieces outside & bury them in moonlight.

The 7 years part dates back to Roman times when they believed that health and fortune ran in 7 yr cycles.

Reality is though, it's only bad luck if you cut yourself when picking the bits up.
