Is this The worse 4X4Xfar?

Question

I'm a big fan of 4X4's, but have you seen the latest offering from BMW, the X6?

This car is huge, but due to the awfull styling there's no room in the back and knowing BMW's other 4X4's, it will get stuck driving on a gravel driveway.

Do you think this is the most pointless thing since the Hummer H2?

I saw one of these on the road near my house in drug dealer black, with blacked out windows. It looked mean as h**l, i like it.

Unless you are a farmer, or someone who has to drive on poor roads or an offroader, a 4x4 is pointless and is just a p***s extension.  As I am neither a farmer nor an offroader the only 4x4 I would ever consider buying is a Fiat Panda 4x4 which has better offroad performance than all those BMW/Volvo/Porsche 4x4's which are automotive "bling".

Ghastly looking thing, looks like a coupe that's been (badly) jacked up.  Can't see the point of it, if I want a 4x4 I want one I can actually use properly off road.

I see the designer says  ÃƒÂ¢Ã‚€ÂœThere’s nothing like this on the market right now.” I'm not surprised, pure poser tat . . .

it looks pretty pointless to be honest.

if you are buying a 4x4, surely you are wanting space too, not just the ability to drive over rough terrain.

Another pointless 4 x 4 for footballers wives. If you need a 4 x 4 at least buy one that can be used off road, I have a Mitsubishi Pajero that is always caked in mud.

Has anyone seen those Range Rovers fitted with very low profile tyres whats the point, they would bog it down in seconds off road , why ruin what is a good off roader just to show off on the Kings Road?

I am also a 4x4 driver, and enthusiast. This is a pointless car.

The best bit about my Land rover is the space inside! as well as it's off road usability. I get my big farmer of a husband, three kids and a dog into mine, and still room for the shopping!

This is just a fashion item, for the inner city drivers who want a big forbidding vehicle to burn around in, that is if they can get it off the drive!!

Its a stylish handbag, its for turning up at dinner party's, for taking the 2.4 children 100 yards down the road to school and they'll sell hundreds of them to people with more money than common sense.

aahhhh... here's the thing.  there are two reasons for AWD, it's not a 4x4, and one of them is handling.  a car with awd has a far more neutral handling behavior than any other drivetrain does on a front engine car.  you can give it similar behavior to a mid engine car in this manner.

noone drives their BMW's off road any way, so what difference does it make.  and yes, the early geometry of BMW AWD meant they got stuck in puddles, but they've largely corrected that... but it does turn it into an 'ultimate driving machine'.

and don't think this is the first take on a 'car SUV' that's not really for off road or dirt.  Nissan makes the rouge, the muran, and the two infiniti FX's, all of which favor handling over off road.

and why not?  studies show that 95% of AWD/4x4's in the US NEVER even get used on gravel roads, not to mention off road, so why bother focusing on that at all?  that's why most companies have dropped a low range.

im a range rover girl myself so not too keen on other 4x4's in genral however this as got to be one of the uglyiest and most pointless, it looks like the saloon on steroids

It is a d**n good driver's car but it does seem pointless because of its restricted passenger and boot capacity . Its coupe style is not unattractive but it is a bit of a poser's car. I find all the high powered 4x4's are the same for I suspect none go off road.

Well, the anti-4x4 lobby are going to love it - it plays right into their hands! Apparently it's quite good off road, but how completely ridiculous to give it a coupe style rear and only four seats - in other words, it's just for show but even on that score, in my opinion, it fails miserably.

I own a Discovery 3 and I love it. But the reason for owning it is it carries 7, it can be a van and it goes anywhere and does anything on an economical diesel engine. It's not an object of beauty, it's a working machine. Not what the Beemer is, I think.

Women with big sunglasses looking like welding goggles, trying to imitate posh spice, looking down upon us making themselves feel superior, drive these things and they never go near mud!

A waste of materials,fuel , money!

Safety! - they shout!! -that`s why we have them!!

NO! - there`s  just as much saftey in a modern 4 door car.
