Question:

Is this US hypocrisy or what?

The White House Deputy Press Secretary said this as part of a rebuttal to allegations that the White House forged a letter proving a link between Saddam Hussein and Al-Qaida: “Regardless, military force in Iraq was used because Saddam Hussein defiantly failed to comply with the 17 UN Security Council resolutions Iraq was subject to.”

Now, Israel has ignored over 60 UN resolutions, a tad more than the 17 that Iraq ignored. Since Israel has violated far more UN resolutions than Iraq ever did, why doesn't the US invade Israel?

  1. U.S. is responsible for hypocrisy because they whine about rights

The West is full of double standards like this. Once you realize much of media is just geopolitical propaganda, it'll make more sense.

  2. Yes it is. Israel is a US satellite in the middle east

Another point is that's it's even more absurd to invoke UN resolutions while the US invasion of Iraq was clearly illegal under the UN charter.

Under International law, the UN charter the US signed and ratified war is only legal in direct self defense or authorized by the security council. Article 6 of the US Constitution makes international treaties, including the United Nations Charter, part of the "supreme law of the land." The Charter is part of United States law, signed by the President and ratified by two-thirds vote of the Senate

The former United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan has told the BBC the US-led invasion of Iraq was an illegal act that contravened the UN charter

He said he believed there should have been a second UN resolution following Iraq's failure to comply over weapons inspections.

And it should have been up to the Security Council to approve or determine the consequences, he added.

When pressed on whether he viewed the invasion of Iraq as illegal, he said: "Yes, if you wish. I have indicated it was not in conformity with the UN charter from our point of view, from the charter point of view, it was illegal."

Ignore the UN to supposedly enforce UN resolutions, that's beyond absurd and hypocritical.
