  1. BYB.

    Reasons:

    1) They breed Akita's, Great Pyrenees dogs AND Shiba's on the same property.

    2) NO record of proper health testing

    3) NO record of champion lines

    4) "411web" powered?

Real breeders are linked via the AKC website, not through a free site sharing system. Linked, as in the AKC has listed them as viable breeders.

Run, don't walk, RUN away from that site.

If you want a Shiba, look at breed rescues. There are SO many of them ending up in shelters and B.R.'s now-a-days.

ADD> If you didn't want our opinion, why did you post this question. If we tell you what we think, what the h**l is the point of you replying back and arguing with us?

  2. Very possibly a BYB/Puppy Mill.

A good breeder will have only one breed of dog(MAYBE two), and will not have puppies available year round.

If you are going to buy a puppy, you are going to want to see the parents (actually see them, not pictures of them), the living conditions (once again, not just pictures), guaranteed health, etc.

  3. ya, i guess, the dogs look in good shape because usually they abuse dogs at puppy mills, but these look good, so, good luck!

  4. Its hard to say, I would never buy from a breeder unless I visited the home.

  5. It says that she is an AKC judge.  Just because she breeds 3 breeds doesn't make her a BYB.  She may only have 1 litter every 3 years.  As for health testing and the like, I don't think she has a very good website.  That does not always mean something is wrong.  It just means that she may not be computer savoy.

  6. Good question, according to what they claim they are health tested have AKC championship lines and he is an AKC show judge. I am concerned with the amount of dogs they breed and the fact that they are posting on a free site and how do they screen potential buyers? On the web someone can claim anything so how are they going to prove it.

  7. No way to tell just from the information given but it is a good sign that they are not hawking puppies on the internet and are offering information and not trying to sell stuff.  You may want to discuss health and temperament testing with them and see about their concerns and experience in those areas are.

add:  Patient Paws is incorrect.  AKC does not advertise responsible breeders at all - I have yet to find a good breeder 'linked' to the AKC website.  You can find links to the parent clubs and contact  the parent clubs for referral but simply being in a parent club does not indicate responsible breeders either.  Having more than one breed also isn't an absolute indicator of a byber at all but ignorance of multiple breeds being bred or offering puppies for sale or stud services on the internet and not supplying proper indications of health and temperament testing tends to raise red flags.  There is no real way to tell by the little information given but there are always ways to assess them.
