"Total Recall" - maybe a partenza represa in 8/6/8/6

Do you remember who we were,

we were before night fell?

Night fell and we remained unsure,

unsure of what to tell.

To tell the secrets that I keep,

I keep avoiding them.

Avoiding them, they make me weep,

weeping that they condemn.

They condemn my imperfection,

my imperfection, I own.

I own the pain of rejection,

rejection by me shown.

Do you remember who we were,

we were before night fell?

Night fell and everything just blurred,

blurred, going all to h**l.

  1. Great poem...I really like the feel of it and how, despite the fact you are using a form, you manage to remain true to your voice.  There is so much depth and emotion in your poems that you can actually feel it while reading it.  Excellent write.

No, you haven't jumped the gun, you've simply helped me make up my mind.  It is still a partenza represa because it is the refrain, not the beat count, that sets it apart from the other forms. As long as the lines maintain a strict pattern whether 8686, all 8, or 10 beat...etc, it is still a partenza represa.  Anyhow, your voice and art is the true talent behind this form.  Great poem.

  2. Yes. I like it with your usual melody.

  3. As long as Sptfyr says it is a Partenza Represa, then it is.

    I like it very much.
