July 4th 2008, within a 10 mile radius these orange "orbs" were seen with spinning white lights around them. One formed a triangle, others were separate. They took forever to cross the horizon as if they were up very very high. This is 10:00pm Northeast PA. Three different people reported them as "UFOs". I have a not so great photo:

  1. You photo, of course, is completely worthless, but your written description sounds entirely plausible.  Alien craft are capable of remarkable aerodynamic acrobatics as well as changes in shape, colors, and color patterns..I know, I've witnessed these things close at hand on 2 occasions.

    A word of advice:

Always keep one "eye on the sky" and always carry a pair of "7x35 (or 6) pair of extra wide angle of view binoculars" in your car (if you drive).

Note: Never opt for a glasses of greater optical power..they are virtually useless for sky watching and their angle of view is far to small.

  2. If it was unidentified, and flying, and an object, it was a UFO.

  3. I heard about that and read it was a hoax. I can't find the website though =/

  4. its no big deal.

people see things... some are unexplained.

HOW people make the leap from "What was that noise?" to "It must be a Martian knocking over the chicken coop!"  I will never know.

  5. EF is right -- listen to him.

These are probably paper lanterns with little oil lamps or candles in them to make them float. In Thailand, millions of them are launched into the air around Loi Kratong. Everybody knows what they are and no one is silly enough to mistake them for alien spaceships or call the authorities. You shouldn't either.

  6. Sounds like spy satellites flying in "formation".

This is done to get extremely accurate positions of objects on Earth (like fleet of ships or missile launch bases).  The three satellites orbit in a triangle and all three look at the same spot at the same time.

A computer looks at the interferometry of the three images and it is possible to get the same accuracy as if you had a lens the size of the triangle.

This has been done in radio-astronomy for decades, so the technology itself is not new. However, doing it from moving satellites and having the images analyzed at a computer on Earth requires extremely precise clocks that put "time-stamps" on the images (the synchronization must be extremely precise because the computer compares difference in the phase of wavelengths).

If the conditions are just right, you can almost describe individual persons.

Satellites cannot maintain such formation very long on orbits, so corrections (with maneuvering rockets) is frequently needed.  Takes a few minutes to cross the sky from horizon to horizon, so lots of time to see them and point them out to other people.

I'm sorry, but there is no way that anyone could possibly provide a serious answer based on absolute knowledge using the data that you have provided. The photo and the information is typical for UFO sightings. They could be anything from distant, out of focus aircraft in formation to optical flaws within the camera. What I am certain of is that these are not alien spacecraft. I base this seemingly overconfident statement on the following:

    1. Experience - as a former USAF pilot, I was taught to understand what I was seeing before making rash decisions. Pilots see strange things like this all the time. They are really never very strange at all.

    2. In order for aliens to be visiting us in great numbers as shown here, they would have to violate all kinds of laws of physics - all at the same time and in the same way. I have seen no evidence that this is possible or even likely.

    3. Even if they could violate all the known laws of physics to get here within less than a couple thousand years, they would not be skittering around and hiding like kids on a playground. This makes no sense, other than as a money-making tool for conspiracy theorists.

The truth is not as good in terms of immediate scariness or entertainment value, but in the long run it is more interesting. It does not involve aliens.

  8. A UFO is any unidentified flying object. That's all. Nothing more. It's unidentified. It's not alien or a deity.

  9. Did you miss the point that this was on 4th July?  We have fireworks where I live every 4th July.

  10. There are people who do send up lanterns into the night sky - for a prank.  While that may not be the case here --- there are also terrrestrial UFOs as opposed to alien UFOs.  Meaning there are secret project aircraft (as well as those of other types) which were built here on Earth, going about their test or business otherwise...

I have been researching about Billy Meier for the past 5 years, downloading every documentary, etc available.  He does confirm which UFO contactees were real, and those which are hoaxed.

www.figu.org (English Discussion Board) use the search engine there, to go through the very extensive archives.

Also the DVD "The Silent Revolution of Truth" does an excellent summary of the evidence about Billy Meier.  This information is on various sites, etc ... but it is neatly presented on the DVD.
