Is this a Vladimir Lenin quote?

is this quote: "a book is a window to the world" V. Lenin's or someone else said it? As far as i remember, i think it is his, but just wanted to make sure.

  1. I don't believe it's a Lenin quote.  For one thing, it's the title of numerous books that have nothing to do with Lenin (see the following links for examples:)

    I doubt that it originated with Lenin, and expect that it must be much older.   Lenin read a lot, but wasn't famous for recommending books, and I don't see anything in the statement that's at all reminiscent of Lenin.   It's surely possible that he once said it,  just as many others have said it.
