Question:

Is this a bad deal?

A lady e-mailed me on a trade for my Azteca mare whom is a level 1 dressage horse, and was always in the ribbons at events.

She wanted to trade a 13 year old gelding, that was just started over fences, and has not yet been to shows. She wanted $1200.00 plus my Azteca for her horse.

I personally think I would be getting the bad end of the deal, I just want opinions on what everyone thinks of this?

Opinions? haha.

  1. no dont do it. shes just ripping you off!

  2. HECK TO THA NO!! dont take this deal you would definately be at the crappy end of the deal-- i know many people in my area would pay 35-40 thousand dollars for your horse-- that would be a much better deal-- that horse she is giving you is no loneger in hise prime years of 5 to 12--hope i helped

  3. no a good trade would be if she just gave you her horse and she gave you 2,000$ then that would be fine, and i would feel insulted too haha your horse is worth more than her horse, but just the fact that she wants the 1200$ from you makes it bad

  4. giving up a horse and some money is waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyy too much.

  5. Sounds like a bad deal to me.  You have a younger, proven, talented mare, that she wants to trade for an older, unproven green gelding and she wants to to give her extra money on top of that? Pass on the deal!

  6. Dont Do it.. you are I made kind of the same deal. A well broke Lame QH for a 13 extreemly green appaloosa mare. It worked out but a hard year

  7. no i would not do it, she could probably get 2500-3000 for that horse. i guess it really depends on his tallent and how he takes the fences, but sorry your mare is not worth 35k-40k whoever said that.

  8. in my opinion this is a bad deal! Oh by the way your horse is absolutely gorgeous! But no your horse could be worth 15,000 dollars or more! and the horse she wants to sell you is 13 years old and just started on jumping!?!?! Well even if that horse has some amazing blood lines it wouldn't matter cause he is gelded so no i wouldn't take that deal I hope i helped!

  9. I would need to know more info on both horses but if you are happy with your horse why would you even consider a trade plus give the woman 1200.00.

  10. Is this some kind of joke I'm not in on?  A level 1 dressage horse versus a gelded something,  being started over fences at 13.

    How old is the Azteca...25?

Is the gelding a registered breed of some sort?

  11. I guess it really depends on what you want. Personally I wouldn't trade.
