DO you think this is a bad sign?

My office is part of a nationwide corporation. Our specific office has had issues with financials as of last months. Our upper mgmt has had one visit from corp already. This is expensive as they are 1500 miles away.

Yesterday I just got another email stating we will be having another visitor soon and they will be reviewing individually what our mgnt process is. Is this a big deal?

  1. You indicated that your office had issues with some financial matters.  If it is a significant issue, then it is natural for the corporate office to want to get it resolved as soon as possible.

Otherwise, if this was an insignificant financial issue, then it is possible that an internal audit is being conducted, which is neither good or bad in itself.  Typically, an operational audit is conducted at each office periodically.

However, if it is a follow-up audit specifically focused to address the financial issue, then it may be focused on identifying system and/or procedural weaknesses.

If someone did something fraudulent, then you can expect that they are trying to trace who did it.  If you know nothing about this matter, then you have nothing to worry about.

  2. It's no sign at all - not good or bad.

There are many reasons corporate might have visitors - could be a pending sale, could be a major consultation, could be any number of things.

  3. Neutral.    And, believe me, the costof flying 1500 miles, hotel expoenses and all that, are very normal expenditures in business.

Try not to worry about it. Chances are after nthe next visit, you won't see them again  for a long time. You know thery're coming. When you DON:T know they're coming and they show up, THAT is when you worry.
