Question:

Is this a bad signal problem?

We got Dish Network about 2 months ago and we've been having problems.

Every 10 minutes or so the video gets all distorted and frozen for a few seconds but the audio stays the same. And on our "Wing Unit" every time we turn it on we have to press the recover button then it spends 10 or 15 minutes fetching the signal until it gets it. And this is all the time, even when it's sunny with blue skies.

  1. this would be a symptom of poor signal. in the menu, there is a window

that shows system and service information.(consult your user guide)

one of the categories is satellite signal, and quality.

typically,a signal level of 75 or more would be considered good.

the quality,(this is the important part) should be above 80.

    the higher the better.

this is a figure of merit, based on the 'bit error rate' (ber).

when this error can no longer be corrected, various artifacts may appear

    in the video(blockies).

have your installer check the dish alignment, cables, switches, etc.
