Is this a big enough cage for my rats (2)?

I went to the cage calculator and it said "This cage would be barely large enough for one rat. Rats are social animals and are happier and more confident with a same-s*x friend."

As for dwarfs if the bars are more than 1/4 of an inch apart they'd probably get out.

I have 3 and I'll tell you that is a good cage. Get a third they are cuter in groups. Mine are happy and they live in a cage around that, and with 3 if you take one out the other two have each other. (or if the unthinkable happens)

That cage is barely large enough for one rat, and would not work for two.  You'd have to find out what the bar spacing is to determine if it would work for your dwarf hamsters.

I think if you used a cage for dwarf hams you should use em on rats. Just ask yourself these questions:

Do my rats have room to play? They need a place for toys, food, water bottle, and sleep.

Do my rats have enough space not to be all over each other? Like all roomies rats fight an if the area is too crowded the fights can be more intense.

Can my rats escape? Are the bars large enough for them to squeeze through?

Also rats can become very large so if you very young rats any cage the size of a 10 gal tank (horizontally) is fine, however as they become larger your rats will need more room. I brought my very large rats a g. pig/dwarf rabbit cage and it worked out wonderful, but when I put my younger rats in it they got out. All in all expect to buy another cage after a year until then if you answered the questions above and feel comfy then it is fine.
